What is the Local Advisory Council?

The Local Advisory Council represents the voices, needs, and expectations of Synergy North customers. As the electricity industry continues to evolve, the LAC provides valuable insight that helps inform planning, decision-making, and service improvements.

Council members contribute feedback and recommendations on topics such as:

  • Customer needs and expectations
  • Community priorities
  • Capital project planning and organization
  • Community outage prioritization
  • Emerging issues affecting local electricity service

Goals of the Local Advisory Council

The LAC works to:

  • Bring forward the customer perspective and provide feedback on system planning, strategies, and policies
  • Consider and provide advice on matters referred by Synergy North's senior management
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance customer service and community engagement

    Are you interested in helping shape the future of electricity service in your community? Synergy North is looking for engaged, thoughtful individuals to join our Local Advisory Council (LAC). As a member, you’ll share your perspectives, contribute to meaningful discussions, and help ensure customer voices are heard as we plan for the future.

    Skills and Experience

    We’re looking for individuals who:

    • Are committed, reliable, and trustworthy, and believe their involvement can make a meaningful difference

    • Are willing to share insights and information that support constructive, solutions-focused discussions

    • Can look beyond their own personal experiences and consider a range of customer and community issues

    • Are good listeners who respect differing perspectives

    • Feel comfortable speaking in a group and interacting with others

    • Contribute positively and supportively in a collaborative environment

    Membership Requirements

    Members are expected to:

    • Align with Synergy North’s vision and values

    • Maintain a positive attitude and engage in respectful, constructive dialogue

    • Share experiences and knowledge in ways that support learning and informed decision-making

    • Continue to develop strong communication and listening skills

    • Be open-minded and willing to consider new ideas

    • Seek practical solutions or offer ideas that can inspire innovation in the industry

    • Attend all scheduled meetings

    • Notify the Synergy North Co-Chair of any changes in availability, contact information, or ability to participate

    Expected Time Commitment

    • The Council meets a minimum of four (4) times per year

    • Meetings typically run 1 to 1.5 hours

    • Meeting times are determined based on member availability and group preferences

    Orientation

    Synergy North will provide full orientation and any required training to all successful applicants before their first meeting.
