Did you know that most residential and small business customers can choose how they pay for electricity?

Ontario's Regulated Price Plan offers three pricing options designed to fit different lifestyles, schedules, and energy-use habits. Understanding these options can help you select the plan that works best for you.

Time-of-Use (TOU) Pricing

With Time-of-Use pricing, the amount you pay depends on when you use electricity.

Price periods include:

  • Off-Peak: Lower prices during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Mid-Peak: Moderate prices during parts of the day
  • On-Peak: Higher prices during periods of highest electricity demand

This Pricing Plan may be right for you if:

  • You can run appliances during evenings or weekends
  • Your schedule allows you to shift electricity use away from peak periods

Tiered Pricing

With Tiered pricing, the amount you pay depends on how much electricity you use each month, regardless of the time of day.

How it works:

  • A lower price applies up to a monthly usage threshold
  • A higher price applies once that threshold is exceeded

This Pricing Plan may be right for you if:

  • Your electricity use is consistent throughout the day
  • You prefer not to monitor when you use electricity

Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) Pricing

Ultra-Low Overnight pricing offers the lowest overnight electricity prices, with higher prices during peak periods.

This Pricing Plan may be right for you if:

  • You charge an electric vehicle overnight
  • You use battery storage or smart home energy systems
  • You can shift most of your electricity use to overnight hours
